Plastic Camera Works 2

Here is the press info for the gallery show that I am in:

REBUS WORKS
Plastic CameraWorks 2
Opening Reception:  Friday, February 5, 6-10 p.m.

February 5 through March 27, 2010

Rebus Works is pleased to announce Plastic CameraWorks2 which opens on February 5 with a First Friday reception from 6 – 10 p.m. It will be on view through March 27, 2010.

Plastic CameraWorks was first held in 2008, and like that first exhibition, Plastic CameraWorks 2 features photographs taken by plastic cameras, like the ubiquitous Holga, the Diana, and the fleeting Polaroid. Photographers in this exhibition span the United States, and abroad, from Oakland, California (James Giotta) to Buenos Aires, Argentina (Celeste Romero Canos) to Manila, Philippines (Erick Cusi), to several from New York, one stationed in Iraq, and many others from North Carolina.

Images in this exhibition range from the mixed-media pieces expanding on Polaroid images by Sarah Powers, to the otherworldly Winter, by Darshana Borah (captured by a Blackbird Twin Lens Reflex). There is the documentation of a youthful soapbox race by Jeff Evans, and James Giotta’s intensely colorful Californian cityscape Holga vignettes. With nearly seventy photographs selected, they are too numerous to mention individually, but as a whole, represent the rich span of work captured by contemporary photographers.
