I am just too excited about my new friend here, so I have been playing with the really expired 600 film in my SX-70. A filter is usually needed to make images print the 'correct' way, which is on the way, but this overly expired film can be my tester with out it.
The camera works, so thats good and when I have the proper film and filters, I think I will be able to get better images. Film will be purchased this week and probably only posted on flicker unless some exciting discovery is revealed with better film. Posted are the tester shots.
Of course I had to do a little research on the history and wanted to figure out the model of my SX-70. Here is a pic of a model during the production of the first folding SLR camera by Edwin Land:
Too cute! In 1977 they perfected the camera. These have a tripod socket and neck strap lugs, which I do not have. Mine has the metal plate rather than the black or white plastic that was used later. The 1972 cameras do not have the split-image range finder, but mine does. This makes me think that my model was produced between 1972-76. There is a number 550 in the slot where the film goes, which I am still on the search for what that means. I also need to clean the rollers, there is chemical residue on the edges. Otherwise, this guy is in pretty good condition, it sounds like he is working hard while developing the film out, but he is old and a bit slow, at least I have the patience for this amazing guy.
